Fluttering Through Time

Stones and Starlings

Hello Reader

Before I tell you about my new print, I thought you should know that I have had to use a different newsletter platform as the old Mailchimp one decided to add lots of spam bot emails to my subscriber list! Too many to delete!

So you'll now receive emails from me through Kit. I hope they reach you ok.

Stones and Starlings

My new print is based on White Moor stone circle on Dartmoor which is near Little Hound Tor on the high moor.

I visited the circle in all its mystery and solitude about this time last year. It was very dry and windy, like a desert then. We had very little rain last year even in winter. I imagine this year will be a lot wetter! It's a remote spot too, so I was surprised I even found it without a map and compass.

I wrote a kind of personal essay about this ancient place and it's sublime characteristics which you can read here

This year, whilst spending time with my dad, I've been watching flocks of starlings arrive at the bottom of his garden in Okehampton and settling for a short time in the trees before taking off again and flying North West. As the crow (starling) flies it's not far from White Stone stone circle so it's possible they flew across the moor and circled around the stones before coming to the trees.

There's always an element of magic when it comes to Dartmoor, stone circles, starling murmurations and the imagination!

I have 6 prints ready to order and post at an introductory offer of £60. Each one from a limited edition of 60!

Thelma Hulbert Gallery, Honiton Last week I visited the Devon Open Studios exhibition at Thelma Hulbert Gallery in Honiton. It has less reflection which makes a big difference and the prints...

The Calling

Hello Reader This months' news includes: • A new print with its story and connections to augury and the cycles of life and death. • A new outlet for my work. • Exciting exhibition news. The Calling I made this print to illustrate the cacophony of corvids I heard at the bottom of my dad’s garden. Two new jays had come to the woods, and the resident magpies weren’t happy. Then the crows and jackdaws flew over to see what was going on. The noise of them calling, screaming and bickering was quite...
